On my way to work I was extremely temp
t
ed
to just keep going on the highway. Keep rolling and just dont stop.
I’m tired, sore, and exhausted. I havent had my car for almost 2 weeks now (in for repairs) and have been just riding.
I want to fuck off and disappear for a few days. But even if i do that from work, I still have my schooling to worry about.
Fucking hell.

I work six day weeks right now and have had a grand total of 3 vacations days since January 1. I can relate.

I went off to Sault Ste Marie for a weekend a couple of weeks ago. It was a lot of driving for not much time up there but worthwhile nonetheless. I f you haven’t been there before, and can spare a weekend, do that.

Whoo- I feel you on that one.
Looked at my watch the other morning after I started work. Yep! Only 15 more years until retirement! Is 9am too early to start day drinking?

Hang in there. And remember that if you do decide it’s too much, it is ok to take a step back to give yourself room to breathe. Between school, work, and your injury recovery, you are taking on a lot, and you shouldn’t feel ashamed if you have to cut back to make it work for you.

If you head up that way again, stop by the “Hard Wok Cafe” and ask for Nancy. Tell her “Harry Potter says hello”. She’ll get a total kick out of it.

Schedule a vacation. It doesn’t have to be fancy or extravagant; just a few days of nothing. Go someplace that no one knows you, and do some (pandemic-safe) activities.
But go ahead and put it on the books now so you can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

This is a VERY interesting and VERY specific reference... I’m curious as to the backstory of this.

It was a bit of kick in the ass to her and she just
now realized the shit i’m dealing with.
Ingury..I’m actually fine from that point of view
. Full motion and flexibilty back. Now, i just want to loss a bit of fat and gain some muscle again.

These are the days you learn what you’re capable of. It sucks. Im sorry you’re going through it. But it will make you stronger when you need to be.

I cant spare the weekend thats the issue.
I have sunday and Tuesdays
off. Not 2 days one after the other. it severely
limits what I can do.

You’d think they’d be a bit understanding considering your recent accident...?

not really. We were 4 sales guys, S, N, L, and me.
S runs flat out all the time, N is there...so me and L. I was gone for 3 months because of my accident. and L quit.
There is no breathing room.

Ha ha! Alright. Short story time.
Back in 2003 I was there as a missionary, and met Nancy, the owner of the Hard Wok. She’s super-cool... and that the time, she thought I looked like Harry Potter... which I kind of did. We’ve stayed in touch a bit over the years, and some day I hope to visit her with the family. We had a lot of fun dinners together, and she’s an amazing cook. Some of my most fond memories of being in Sault Ste. Marie involve her and her cooking.
EDIT: Maybe some
day I’ll share the story involving some explosive flatulence and the “Benn-
a-
tron”, that also involves Nancy. :P

Sorry to hear that. I’ve been very very busy myself with starting college in the summer but I have the flexibility of doordash. Still, last weekend was the first fun I’ve had in like a month and it was just a brief hike. Even if you have to do it at a wacky hour, do something different that you enjoy. I’ve been cooped up in the house for far too long to stay sane.
That situation is tough on mental health. Let's not have a nervous breakdown, ok? I'll be praying for you.

Have you looked into recommendations for a Licensed Therapist or a doctor who can prescribe you some medication to keep the panic attacks away? My wife is one and the options available today are incredible. A few sessions and generic
medication costs can be affordable even without insurance. Don’t let it get away from you. A lot more people are getting this kind of help than people realize.

While there may be lots of other stress and business, at least you’ve healed up considerably, and fast it seems. That’s good news.
Hopefully the days get easier. I’m sure they will.

That’s usually the case for me as well. I typically have one free day every weekend but we switched one around so that two of us could each have a full weekend and I took full advantage of it.
Maybe see if you can arrange something similar. Hang in there, this effort will be worthwhile.
I’m off Sunday, if you want to go for a cruise and grab a beer, hmu.

And if those two days weren’t of the same variety of lacking enough hours and energy to come close to getting ahead during you wouldn’t be at the end of your rope.
Everyone hits the point where they need to abandon trying to keep every ball in the air. Normally too late to avoid butting up against the fact life is messy. Take some one up on their decision to help manage everything coming at you. If you’ll consider it, backing off social or fun stuff to focus on some rehab exercises and lots of rest LOTS OF REST!! until things look a little rosier could slowly make gains.

You are not fine. Breaking your back and other extensive injuries doesn’t equate with small incident or a part that didn’t ship keeping you off the bike. It means long term recovery . Last I’ll say on this matter.

That’s cool! The wife and I have met some interesting characters over the years too but never to the point that we’ve stayed in contact.

What you said , it is more than OK to seek/get help and you should if you can. Anxiety and depression can be a rough mix and there are lots of ways to help.
Of course my wife is a counselor as well, not able to prescribe anything but I have seen and heard enough around this to know that intervention early is by far the best.
Remember, it gets better

I mean, you arent wrong.
but...I’ve been to the doctors
several times. The spine healed well with the 6 weeks they forecasted
. the torn rotator cuff was back in action after 2 months ( did my exercises
and everything needed).
the ONE thing that i’m kinda/sorta iffy on is the brain. but i did go to a neurologist
in the past few weeks and he said
i
w
as functioning fine. Maybe a bit calmer/ slightly different attitude, but still the same person...
